Organizational structure 

Metro’s 1,600 employees work in performance halls, cemeteries, classrooms, natural areas and parks, an exhibition hall, a convention center, administrative offices, recycling and garbage transfer stations, and the zoo. 

The Metro Council, elected by voters, appoints a chief operating officer who is charged with managing Metro’s varied operations and employees in order to carry out council policies.
